Dissected Kicks

Exhibition Design

Dissected kicks is a Philadelphia Museum Of Art Exhibition inspired by an artist who takes sneakers apart and turns them into sculptures. Sneakers have become a big part of fashion and pop culture. We see brands like Nike collaborating with luxury brands like Dior and Off-White more frequently. With this new pop culture movement, it raised the intrigue of how sneakers are made and how each one is different from the other.

The sneaker featured on the key art poster was taken apart and arranged as a sculpture. It served as a preview or prelude to what the audience may see in the exhibition. This exhibition is important because it creates a space where gen z ( the kids that are willing to spend thousands of dollars on these shoes) and gen x ( the generation that doesn't understand sneaker culture ) a place where they interact in the same space.

If you’re walking down the street in Philadelphia and you saw these posters it would draw a big interest around the exhibition, due to the fact that Philadelphia has a vibrant streetwear culture. Then Ideally you would look it up online and see when the opening day is. Then stumble upon the website for the opening day that holds a bunch of events around the museum that day like design conversations and work shops. Creating opportunities like this through design is what was exciting about this project.
