Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the first Harry Potter film and building anticipation for the new HBO series Harry Potter, Target came to us needing a campaign for a multi-layered collection of clothes and candy inspired by iconic moments from the films, like Honeydukes, the Hogwarts houses, and more.

The challenge was to excite legacy fans without going too deep into the Harry Potter world, while making sure Target’s branding came through.

Our solution was to nod to specific iconography and visual language from the original films and bring it into the world of Target. We referenced the floating candles in the Great Hall, the Mirror of Erised, the wizard’s chess battle, the overflowing treasure inside the Gringotts vault, and a portrait gallery wall inspired by the hallways of Hogwarts.

My role on the project was leading the overall art direction, establishing the look and feel and finding ways to nod to the films that only legacy fans would pick up on.
